Ritz is out of the Healthy Kidney 10k, the race he won last year over Craig Mottram. Sounds like his training was going to be interrupted and he has to be careful between now and Beijing.

GAY AGAINST BOLT IN NEW YORK
NEW YORK (USA): The decision is here. World leader Usain Bolt runs his next 100 m after Trinidad´s Hampton Games on May 18 in New York on May 31 at Reebok Grand Prix (part of IAAF Grand Prix). That will be his last 100 m before Jamaican trials end of June. After that he will run his only 200 m before trials at Golden Spike of Ostrava on June 12. But what a race could be expected. In New York at Icahn Stadium he will face world champion Tyson Gay. It will be their first ever 100 m clash, they never met at this distance before. At 200 m Gay is leading 6:2 in their head to head races since 2005 (stats per tilastopaja).
JEPKOSGEI NOT RUNNING IN DOHA
DOHA (QAT): The latest withdrawal from Qatar Grand Prix to be held on Friday is the world champion at 800 m Janeth Jepkosgei of Kenya who was scheduled to run the 1500 m. „She is not running due to personal reasons,” said her agent Federico Rosa. She plans to target the AF Golden League jackpot at 800 m later in the season.
TWO OSAKA MEDALLISTS IN BRAZIL
UBERLANDIA (BRA): Brazilian Tour of top one day meetings starts on Sunday in Uberlandia with Area Permit meeting and qualification points for IAAF World Athletics Tour. Two medallists from last year World Championships are competing. In women discus bronze holder Yarelis Barrios of Cuba and in men hammer Slovak third placer Libor Charfreitag. In women javelin world record holder Osleidys Menendez of Cuba is scheduled to throw. Other top names are British High jumper of Jamaican origin Germaine Mason, Cuban triple jumpers Osniel Tosca and David Giralt and Jamaican sprinter Chris Williams. On the women side US sprinter Muna Lee and hurdler Sheena Johnson-Tosta. In women triple jump Yamile Aldama of Sudan is the headliner.
LIVE STREAM FROM CHEBOKSARY
CHEBOKSARY (RUS): In an exciting new initiative all the action from the 23rd IAAF World Race Walking Cup in Cheboksary, Russia, 10-11 May will be broadcast via a live audio/visual stream during the two days of competition.
This is the first time that video coverage of an IAAF World Athletics Series event has been broadcast live over the internet. This new project forms part of the IAAF’s development policy for its website and the obvious desire to enhance the coverage of its premier series of competitions. For this first experiment the stream will only be available to European territories and will be geo-blocked to the rest of the world. Informs IAAF in a release.
DE LIMA NOT IN BEIJING
SAO PAULO (BRA): Brazilian Olympic bronze medalist in marathon from 2004 Vanderlei de Lima will not compete in Beijing. The 38 years old runner is struggling with hamstring injury and so unable to try to qualify. He wanted to race in Praha on Sunday but was forced to withdraw because of the injury. Currently better on time are Marilson Gomes (2:08:37), Jose Teles (2:12:23) und Franck Caldeira (2:12:32).
RITZENHEIN OUT OF 10 km RACE
NEW YORK (USA): Defending champion and event record holder Dathan Ritzenhein has been forced to withdraw from the 4th annual Healthy Kidney 10-K scheduled for Saturday, May 17, in New York City. „We’re very disappointed not to be able to return to New York for the Healthy Kidney 10-K,” Ritzenhein told reporters on a conference call today hosted by the New York Road Runners, the founders and organizers of the race. „With a whole array of ailments, it hasn’t come together in time for me to take on the great field that’s been assembled for the race. Knowing that it might set back my preparation [for Beijing], it was with regret that we made the decision to withdraw.” Informs Race Results Weekly. The favorites of the race are former New York Marathon winner Marilson Gomes dos Santos of Brazil, and the 2007 IAAF World Road Running Championships silver medalist, Patrick Makau of Kenya.

PARDUBICE (CZE, May 7): Czech junior Katerina Safrankova achieved new national senior hammer record 68.26 m. She also achieved B-Olympic qualifier and clear qualifier for World Junior Championships in Poland. Former record by Lucie Vrbenska was 67.86 from 2003.
NOVE MESTO NAD VAHOM (SVK, May 8): Slovak hammer record holder Martina Hrasnova again went over 70 m at local meet with 72.12 m. Shot putter Milan Haborak achieved 19.46 m.
CHODOV (CZE, May 8): Best Czech discus thrower in recent years Libor Malina returned to 60+ shape with 62.32 m win here.
OLOMOUC (CZE, May 8): Javelin thrower Jarmila Klimesova achieved good 60.26 m and talented Pavel Maslak new Czech youth record at 200 m with 21.42 (+0.6). The former mark 21.56 was from 1977.
PRAHA (CZE, May 8): World indoor semifinalist Stanislav Sajdok started the season with 13.82 (+0.6) at 110 m Hurdles.
KAPFENBERG (AUT, May 8): Kenyan Boaz Mayaka won 10 km city run in Kapfenberg after 29:24. Poland´s Jakub Burghardt was second with the same time and third Aleksandr Barbaryka of Ukraine achieved 29:56.
