FRANKFURT (GER): Dewi Griffiths, whose 2:09:49 marathon debut in Frankfurt yesterday makes him European No.2 for 2017, said he could have gone quicker were it not for hamstring trouble felt late on in the race. “After 30km or so I felt my hamstring twitch and it got worse from then on. At one stage I was worried I might end up dropping out but I managed to hold it together,” he told Athletics Weekly, adding that he had felt capable before of running sub-2:10. Griffiths is aiming to compete in the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast next April.
