Arne Gabius kept the German tv audience on its toes, as he battled to get under two hours, ten minutes. Arne was running with Poland’s Henryk Szost, Dewi Griffiths, GBR and of course, our favorite German.
Arne Gabius and his lovely wife had a son, Frederik Bosse Gabius. “Remember, Frederik with a c.” as Arne told me.
As the European trio hit 5k in 15:14, 10k in 30:34, 15k in 45:10, 20k in 1:00:24, and half marathon in 1:03:49.
Gabius looked good, taking 25k in 1:15:53, as Szost and Griffiths broke away from Arne Gabius. Griffiths hit the 30k in 1:31:12, with Szost in 1:31:18 and Gabius in 1:31:22. As Dewi Griffiths ran away, hitting 35k in 1:46:33, Henry Szozt in 1:46:59, and Arne Gabius in 1:47:11.
This video tells Arne’s story up to 30k, which is quite fascinating, even with this charming German athlete.
