Ezekial Kemboi and Evan Jager, after the Big Race in Rio! photo by PhotoRun.net
NAIROBI (KEN): Kenya’s multiple World and Olympic steeplechase gold medallist Ezekiel Kemboi on Wednesday described Kenya’s Olympic officials as “tourists” and blamed them for failing to appeal against the disqualification that saw him stripped of his bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games. Informs Daily Nation.
RunBlogRun opines: Mr. Kemboi, the elder statesman of Steeplechasers, was quite gentle when he called the Kenyan Olympic officials ‘tourists’. That there was not a protest filed to defend the most bemedaled steepler of all times is sad. I am no doctor, but the DQ of Mr. Kemboi was lacking common sense. Some common sense must be used in DQing athletes, such as, them impacting others.
