ROAD RESULTS
LA ROCHELLE (FRA, Nov 27): Pacemaker Emmanuel Oliaulo from Kenya won the La Rochelle Marathon in 2:10:46ahead of Ethiopia’s Agato Yashin (2:13:21) and Francis Kibiwott (2:13:27) while Jane Moraa won the women’s race in 2:30:51 from Nancy Koech (2:32:57) and French veteran Corinne Herbreteau (2:39:20).
SAN SEBASTIAN (ESP, Nov 27): Kenyans took a clean sweep in the San Sebastian Marathon with Hosea Kiprono (2:11:51), David Barmasai (2:15:02) and Paul Kimeli (2:15:56) while Marisa Casanueva won the women’s race in 2:35:32ahead of Yolanda Gutierrez (2:38:50).
FLORENCE (ITA, Nov 27): Ethiopia and Kenya shared the titles in the Florence Marathon. Ethiopia’s Teshome Shumi won the men’s race on his debut in 2:11:57 ahead of Richard Sigei (2:14:15) and home favourite Eyob Faniel (2:15:39) while Winny Jepkorir (2:28:46) won the women’s race ahead of Italian veteran Fatna Maraoui (2:30:52) and Belarus’ Nastassia Ivanova (2:32:11).
LIBREVILLE (GAB, Nov 27): Kenyans Samson Bungei (2:21:15) and Emily Chepkemoi (2:50:34) claimed victories in hot and humid conditions in the Gabon Libreville Marathon.
MAZATLAN (MEX, Nov 27): Also at 18th Gran Maratón PacÃfÃco Kenyan wins by Nixon Kiplagat 2:25:42 and Ogla Kimaiyo 2:52:51.
GEORGE TOWN (MAS, Nov 27): Runners from Kenya dominated the Asics Penang Bridge International Marathon as Bernard Muthoni clocked 2:27:45 and Margaret Niuguna 2:52:10.
BASEL (SUI, Nov 26): European half marathon champion Tadesse Abraham took victory on home soil in the Basel Stadtlauf in 21:44 at 7.55 km ahead of Kenya’s Bernard Matheka (21:46) and Julien Wanders (21:48) while Ethiopia’s Helen Bekele Tola easily defended her women’s title in 19:26 at 5.9 km from Czech Lucie Sekanova (19:46) and Martina Strahl (19:56).
BARCELONA (ESP, Nov 27): Eritrea’s Yemane Haileselassie won the Internacional Jean Bouin Road Race in Montjuic Park over 9.9km in 30:24 ahead of Antonio Abadia (30:35) while Portugal’s Ines Monteiro won the women’s 6.6km in 22:59.
KOSA (JPN, Nov 27): Kenyan Karemi Thuku won the international category at the Kosa 10 miles road race in 46:19 ahead of Edward Waweru 46:44. In the local race Daichi Kamino 46:38.
SENDAI (JPN, Nov 27): JPN Postal Group won with two Olympians in the team (Ayuko Suzuki and Hanami Sekine) the Japanese Corporate Teams Women´s Ekiden Championships in 2:15:08. Second Dai-ichi Life 2:15:21 (another Olympian Tomomi Tanaka running) and third Yamada Electric 2:16:08. One of the pre-race favorite Toyota Industries was disqualified at the first to second stage hand-off point.
BILBAO (ESP, Nov 27): Kenyan Joseph Kiprono won the 18th Desde Santurce road race at 15.8 km in 46:03. Second Emmanuel Bor 46:19. Women winner Spain´s Elena Loyo 53:23.
MONDORF (GER, Nov 27): Sabrina Mockenhaupt won the Christmas Run here at 10 km in 35:53.
KLAGENFURT (AUT, Nov 27): Austrian marathon Olympian Edwin Kemboi won the Klagenfurt Adventlauf at 10 km in 32:21.
PADENGHE SUL GARDA (ITA, Nov 27): At 9th Padenghe Half Marathon Kenyan winners Jonathan Kanda 1:04:09 and Ruth Chebitok 1:15:28.
TAN-TAN (MAR, Nov 27): Mohammed Ziani won the Tan-Tan 10 km road race in Morocco in 30:25 beating Ethiopian Dawit Fikadu 30:31 and Kenyan Cornelius Kosgei 30:45. Women winner Kaltoum Bouaasayria 35:53.
NANCY (FRA, Nov 27): Benjamin Choquert won the Course de St. Nicolas at 10 km in 29:41 over Kenyan Thomas Muke 29:43.
