ISTANBUL NEWS
DARMSTADT (GER): The German Athletics Association selected its team for the European Indoor Championships. 15 female and 17 male athletes were nominated. Olympic champion Malaika Mihambo seeks for her first international indoor title, Konstanze Klosterhalfen and Hanna Klein lead the 3000m entry lists. In the men’s pole vault, after Armand Duplantis will not start, anything is also possible for Torben Blech and Bo Kanda Lita Baehre. Triple jumper Max Hess has three bronze medals from three consecutive European Indoor Championships, the high jumpers (Tobias Potye, Mateusz Przybylko) can also jump onto the podium. On the track, Amos Bartelsmeyer and Sam Parsons have medal ambitions. And there are also experienced shot-putter Sara Gambetta and a trio of heptathletes led by Kai Kazmirek.
KYIV (UKR): Yaroslava Mahuchikh leads the Ukrainian squad of eleven athletes for Euro Indoors. She will participate in the high jump together with Yuliya Levchenko and Kateryna Tabashnyk (Iryna Gerashchenko remained only as a substitute). There are also other medal contenders in the team, high jumper Andriy Protsenko and shot putter Roman Kokoshko, while Maryna Bekh-Romanchuk is missing.
LJUBLJANA (SLO): Tina Sutej (pole vault) leads the team of 12 Slovenian athletes selected to compete at the Euro Indoors. Alina Horvat (800m), Marusa Mismas Zrimsek (3000m) and Neja Filipic (triple jump) also set the entry standards, while the rest were qualified via the world rankings.
BELGRADE (SRB): Strong team of 12 athletes was selected to represent Serbia at the Euro Indoors. Long jumpers Ivana Vuleta and Milica Gardasevic are clear medal contenders. Shot putters Armin Sinancevic and Asmir Kolasinac, 3000m runner Elzan Bibic and talented U20 high jumper Angelina Topic also have high hopes.
BUCHAREST (ROU): Experience jumpers Alina Rotaru Kottmann, Florentina Costina Iusco, Daniela Stanciu, distance runner Claudia Mihaela Bobocea, shot putter Andrei Rares Toader, long jumper Gabriel Bitan and 400m runner Robert Parge lead the squad of 14 athletes from Romania for Euro Indoors.
REYKJAVIK (ISL): Former U18 European champion Gudbjorg Jona Bjarnadottir and Kolbeinn Hodur Gunnarsson, both in the 60m, will represent Iceland at the Euro Indoors.
STOCKHOLM (SWE): Andreas Almgren (3000 m) has withdrawn from the European Indoor Championships due to lack of form and performance.
