Here are some results from around the world from this past weekend, January 4-5, 2014. Thanks to EME News….

INDOOR RESULTS from around the Globe

SHEFFIELD (GBR, Jan 5): At indoor combined events nationals heptathlon winner was Richard Reeks with 5734 points. Retaining her pentathlon title was Karla Drew with 4157 points and 16 years old Morgan Lake (guest in competition) scored 4146. Pole vaulter Luke Cutts cleared 547 in his special event and with 4696 points as third at that time did not contest the final 1000 m.
In the men 3000 m walk Quentin Rew of New Zealand clocked national indoor mark 11:17.66.

LEE VALLEY (GBR, Jan 5): Talented Dina Asher-Smith clocked 7.41 in the women 60 m.

DORTMUND (GER, Jan 5): Dutch solid results by Giovanni Codrington 6.84 in semifinal of 60 m and Madiea Ghafoor 53.40 in the 400 m.

AKRON (USA, Jan 5): In Ohio pole vault Jack Whitt cleared 561 as male winner. In women competition Kylie Hutson achieved 437 cm.

LEVERKUSEN (GER, Jan 5): Greek record holder Kostadinos Filippidis got 565 at a pole vault meet over Karsten Dilla 555 and returning from injury 2011 World champion Pawel Wojciechowski of Poland 545 (his first competition since September 2012). Katharina Bauer won the women with 440.

CHEMNITZ (GER, Jan 4): Hurdler Cindy Roleder started her combined eventer part of the career with 4105 points pentathlon (8.24, 161, 11.15, 606, 2:21.00).

ESSING (GER, Jan 5): Slovak Lukas Beer cleared 220 to win the traditional indoor high jump meeting.

SAARBRUCKEN (GER, Jan 5): Rouven Christ clocked here solid 21.22 PB in the 200 m.
