AMOREBIETA (ESP, Jan 5): Kenyan wins at the jubilee 60th Zornotza CC race in Amorebieta. Cyprian Kotut clocked 33:28 at 10.7 km one second ahead of Timothy Toroitich from Uganda 33:29 and third best Spanish Ayad Lamdassem 33:48. Fourth Javier Guerra 33:49 followed by Antonio Jimenez 34:11 and European CC Champion Alemayehu Bezabeh 34:12. In women 6.7 km Magdalene Masai got 23:55 over Ugandan Rebecca Cheptegei 24:02 and best Spanish Lidia Rodriguez 24:04 and Ethiopian Marta Tigabea 24:09.
SAN SEBASTIAN (ESP, Jan 6): European 2010 1500 m champion Arturo Casado won the 84th Gimnastica de Ulia CC race in 29:54 at 10 km here over Moroccan El Hassan Oubaddi also 29:54 and Abdelaziz Merzougui third 29:56. Moroccan Saida El Mehdi was the best woman in 33:37 as the Ethiopian favorite Marta Tigabea was a non-finisher. Second Trihas Gebre of Ethiopia 33:52 and third Moroccan Saoud Kambouchia 34:13. Fourth best Spanish Cristina Jordan in 34:58.
ADANA (TUR, Jan 5): Tsenynesh Tsenga of Azerbaijan won the 92nd edition of Adana Half Marathon in 1:17:28 ahead of Burcu Buyuksezgin 1:17:30. In men category Moroccan Mosaab Hadout got 1:04:10 over Ethiopians Ketema Amensise 1:05:02 and Alemu Regasa 1:05:13.
NICE (FRA, Jan 5): European CC Champion Sophie Duarte won the Prom Classic road race at the 10 km here in new course record 32:21. She improved the former mark of Christelle Daunay by 5 seconds. Second Laurane Picoche 33:30. Abdellatif Meftah won the men race in 29:20.
ELDORET (KEN, Jan 5): The Kenya Commercial Bank cross-country series ended in Eldoret with two of last year’s jackpot winners repeating the feat. Informs East Standard. Agnes Chebet and Moses Mukono topped the junior 6 km and 8 km races while the winners in the senior categories are yet to be decided. During the event held at the Eldoret Polytechnic, Berlin marathon champion Florence Kiplagat and little known Rono Kurgat won the senior races. Kiplagat won the 8 km in 26:24 over Beatrice Mutai 26:35 and Selah Busienei 26:49. In the senior men’s 12km run, Rono displayed great talent after overpowering 140 participants in 35:14. Second Julius Kogo 35:26.
LAVASA (IND, Jan 6): Kenyan runners dominated the inaugural Lavasa Hill Run at 10 km as Daniel Yegon got 31:32 and Gladys Tarus 37:24.
ROMA (ITA, Jan 6): Moroccan wins at the 22nd Corri per la Befana at 10 km as Tayeb Filali clocked 30:30 and Hanane Janat 33:21.
SCHWABISCH HALL (GER, Jan 6): At the 29th 10 km road race Sabrina Mockenhaupt clocked new women course record 34:15.
AMSTERDAM (NED, Jan 5): At the Phanos Boscross 2010 European 800 m medalist Yvonne Hak won the women 5.6 km 22:02.
NAIROBI (KEN, Jan 4): At Administration Police CC Champios Barnabas Sigei won in 36:01 at 13 km and Chepngeno Langat 28:04 at 8 km.
