(FRA, Jun 7): The first Pro Athle Tour 2011 meet in Montreuil (third
edition) saw superb 100 m race. Jamaican Yohan Blake clocked 9.95 (+0.9)
and second triple European champion Christophe Lemaitre achieved new
French record 9.96. It is third position in European all-time list
behind Francis Obikwelu (9.86 in 2004) and Linford Christie (9.87 in
1993). Third Daniel Bailey got 10.00 and fourth Dwain Chambers 10.09.
World indoor champion Teddy Tamgho leaped to world leading 17.67 in
second round of the triple jump. In the pole vault European Champion
Renaud Lavillenie cleared another world leading mark 2011 583 cm. He
needed three attempts interestingly on his opening height 543 cm, but
583 was mastered in first and tried afterwards at 588. Former world
champion Perdita Felicien of Canada won the 100 m hurdles in 12.75
(+1.3). In the 110 m hurdles personal bests for top two US athletes,
Joel Brown 13.22 (+1.0, equaled his mark from 2005) and Jeff Porter
13.34.

7): Estonian Big Bank Kuldliiga series continued with second meet and
Russian Olga Balayeva highlighted it with personal best 679 (+1.5) in
long jump. Estonian Veera Baranova leaped to windy 14.00 (+2.3) in the
triple jump (and legal 13.96 +1.5). Egyptian record holder Omar El
Ghazaly achieved 62.54 in the discus. Ukrainian Oleksandr Pyatnytsa won
the javelin (78.95) over Mihkel Kukk (78.66). Anna Iljustsenko cleared
190 in high jump and Russian Vasiliy Kopeykin windy 792 (+2.7) in long
jump.

Jun 7): World junior CC champion Faith Chepngetich was beaten to second
position in the women’s 1500 m during the Junior Triangular Athletics
Championships held at Nyayo National Stadium in 4:19.2. Sheila
Chemngetich clocked 4:14.8 as the winner. The event served also as
trials meet for World U17 Championships in Lille, France in July. Cyrus
Ruto from St. Francis School, Kimuron, won the men’s 5000 m in 13:45.3.
Second Albert Rop achieved 13:46.2.

Jun 7): European Indoor 2009 hurdles medalist Lucie Skrobakova clocked
Daegu standard at the Praga Academica meet with 12.95 (+1.4) at 100 m
hurdles. Good 400 m hurdles as Josef Prorok achieved 50.38 and Zuzana
Bergrova 57.17. In discus 64.33 for Jan Marcell and 60.58 for Vera
Cechlova.

(KEN): The mother of marathon olympic winner Samuel Wanjiru on Tuesday
moved to the High Court in Nakuru for a second time seeking orders to
stop his burial. Ms Hannah Wanjiru sought orders restraining her
daughter-in-law, Terezah Njeri, or her agents from removing the
athlete’s body from Lee Funeral Home in Nairobi until investigations
into the cause of her son’s death were concluded. Informs The Nation. Ms
Wanjiru said the post-mortem examination showed her son died from
injuries inflicted by a blunt object to the back of his head.
LAUSANNE (SUI): Agencies are
informing that the IOC said NBC has retained its hold on U.S. Olympic
television rights by defeating rival bids from ESPN and FOX and securing
a four-games deal through 2020 worth nearly $4.4 billion. NBC won the
bid less than a month after the resignation of longtime sports and
Olympics chief Dick Ebersol in a dispute with the new owners from
Comcast. The victory extends NBC’s reign as the Olympic network in the
United States, a period stretching back 20 years. NBC now will have
exclusive rights to the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, Russia, the 2016
Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the 2018 Winter Games and
2020 Olympics, whose sites have not yet been chosen.
KINGSTON (JAM): Asafa Powell is
confident that he will be fit and ready for Jamaica’s trials which will
decide who will make the trip to World Championships in Daegu. Powell,
who previously held the world 100m record of 9.74 before Usain Bolt ran
9.72 in 2008, 9.69 in 2008 and 9.58 in 2009, was affected by his
hamstring in Sunday’s 100m race in Rabat, Morocco. He felt pain in his
right hamstring about 20m and opted to walk across the finish line in
36.13 sec. On Monday, Powell assured his fans and the wider track &
field world that he will be ok to chase his dream in Daegu. “I am not
too worried about it. I was cautious in the race when I felt some
tightness and I am confident I will be ready and fit by the trials,” he

Jamaica. “He continues to receive treatment and we are hoping to get him
