was again a morning meet in 17-20 degrees and fast sprints. Dwain Chambers
clocked 10.01 (+2.0) european leading time of the season ahead of World junior
champ Dexter Lee 10.06 PB. African champion Damola Osayomi of Nigeria
improved to 10.99 (+1.8) ahead of Alexandria Anderson of USA 11.01 (also PB)
and Mikele Barber 11.14. Olympic winner and home star Maurren Higa Maggi won
the long jump with excellent 689 (-0.2 and had also three identical 684 jumps).
Second US
indoor champion Janay DeLoach 676 (+1.8, outdoor PB). New South American record
for Katrine Ibarguen of Colombia
in triple jump with 14.59 (+0.4). Excellent also the 50.79 by Jamaican Rosemarie
Whyte at 400 m
ahead of Colombian Norma Gonzalez 51.58 lifetime best. Hammer wins for Cuban
Yipsi Moreno (71.93) and US Kibwe Johnson (75.97 over Dilshod Nazarov 75.78).
Cuban Lazaro Borges won the pole vault (560) when local favorite Fabio Gomes
no-heighted at 545. 800 m
specialist Kleberson Davide was the best in the 400 m (46.60) and Ethiopian
Aman Wote achieved 3:39.11 to win the 1500 m. Bahamian Trevor Barry cleared 227 in high jump. Brazil
won all relays, men with 38.77 and 3:06.64 and women with 43.21 and 3:30.59.

LEMAITRE 10.08, TAMGHO 17.59W

BONDOUFLE (FRA, May 22): European champion Christophe Lemaitre showed he
is in top shape before Thursday´s duel with Bolt and Powell in Rome as he clocked fast
10.08 (+0.6) at Clubs Competition. Second Martial Mbandjock 10.22. Teddy Tamgho
registered windy 17.59 (+2.8) and legal 17.15 (+1.6). World indoor medalist
Ruddy Zang Milama clocked 11.12 (+3.8) in women 100 m and Veronique Mang
23.45 (+3.2) in the 200 m.
European indoor champion Antoinette Nana Djimou was also unlucky with wind
(13.31 at 100 m
hurdles, but +2.6).

LALOVA 22.66

IZMIR (TUR, May 22): Bulgarian sprinter Ivet Lalova
is in top shape as she clocked during second day of Turkish Club League another
European leading time 22.66 at 200
m. Fatih Avan again improved Turkish javelin record to
81.16 and another national record in the men´s 200 m as Izzet Safer bettered
his own mark to 21.01. Romanian guest Marian Oprea achieved 17.19 in the triple jump.
In the women long jump Olga Rypakova with 645 was better than Karin Melis Mey
on count-back (also 645).

HARRY A-A WINDY 10.10

LOUGHBOROUGH (GBR, May 22): Windy weather at Loughborough International
Meeting as Danny Talbot clocked excellent personal best 10.21 (+1.8) at 100 m. In other race supported
by +3.5 Harry Aikines-Aryeetey got 10.10 over James Ellington 10.12, Craig
Pickering 10.15 and Marlon Devonish 10.19. Jessica Ennis tested her shape
before Gotzis with 186 in
high jump and 44.49 with javelin. Laura Turner won the 100 m with 11.35 (+2.4) and
Perri Shakes-Drayton in strong wind achieved 53.92 at 400 m. World junior champion
Jodie Williams posted 38.00
in the 300
m. In the 200
m Richard Kilty (20.64, +3.5) beat Mark Lewis-Francis
(20.77).

JIAXING (CHN, May 22): First of three Asian Grand Prix meetings saw fast
relay times as Korea clocked 39.19 and 39.04 (national record) in men´s races
and Japan 43.65 in
women 4×100 m. Uzbekistan´s Gizel Khubbieva won the 100 m (11.46, +1.4) and
Kazakhstan´s Margarita Matsko 2:01.97 at 800 m. Chen Qiang won the 100 m for China in 10.38
(+0.2), Jiang Fan improved to 13.49 (+1.6) at 110 m hurdles and Zhang
Guowei cleared 224 in
high jump. Mahmoud Samimi of Iran
won the discus (62.78). Next meet of the circuit is on Thursday in Kunshan.

DEBRECEN (HUN, May 22): Gyorgyi Farkas scored as fourth
Hungarian 6+ heptathlon with 6059 points at National CE Championships. She
registered four personal bests in the competition: 14.09 PB – 178 – 13.53 PB –
25.44 PB – 604 – 46.46 PB – 2:16.21). Decathlon title went to Attila Szabo
(7362 points).

REIMS (FRA, May 22): Walking world record holder
Yohan Diniz got 19:38.41 in the 5000
m during Club Competitions. Talented sprinter Jimmy
Vicaut who is still a junior this year posted 10.11 with +3.2 support.

JONESBORO (USA, May 21): US top ranked pole
vaulter Derek Miles cleared at pole vault meet 572 cm. He is now the
American leader and his mark qualifies for Daegu and the London Olympics.
Derek’s next competition will be in Rome,
Golden Gala.

PLIEZHAUSEN (GER, May 22): European champion Marcin Lewandowski showed
solid shape before top races in next days when he won the 600 m at Pliezhausen meet
(special distances) in 1:16.46. Swiss Lisa Urech got 12.95 (-0.1) at 100 m hurdles. In the 1000 m Kenyan Benson Seurei

KOPER (SLO, May 22): Fast sprints by Gregor Kokalovic 10.38 (+2.0) and
20.97 at 100 m
and 200 m.

HALLE (GER, May 22): During second day at Throwing
meet (U23 competitions) David Storl achieved 20.48 in shot put and
Briton Brett Morse 61.27 in
discus. Eivind Henriksen got new Norwegian senior hammer record 74.59.

GARBSEN (GER, May 22): African champion Kabelo
Kgosiemang cleared 224 in
high jump at a jumping meet here. Young Lena Malkus (17) who is Youth Olympic
Games winner from last year improved in long jump to 652 (+1.2).

EPPINGEN (GER, May 22): 20-years old Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch bettered
at a high jump meet her personal best with 193 cm clearance.

May 20): High school sprinter Dallas Burroughs bettered at 100 m to 10.34 (+1.9).

LODZ (POL, May 21-22): During Polish University
Championships Pawel Fajdek improved to 76.23 in hammer throw and beat former world and
olympic winner Szymon Ziolkowski 75.03. Przemyslaw Czajkowski achieved 62.59
with discus.

EMMELOORD (NED, May 22): No less than five athletes qualified for the
European junior championships at the Dutch national combined events
championships. Anouk Vetter qualified with a total of 5549 points while Nadine
Visser managed a solid 5171 points. Visser is already qualified for the EYOF in
Turkey
this summer and will choose to run the 100m hurdles and the relay there. Pieter
Braun (7474), Mark Jacobs (7353) and Tim Dekker (7249) qualified for the men’s
competition in Tallinn.

GENT (BEL, May 21): Decathlete Thomas Van der Plaetsen is returning from
sickness and managed a solid 480
in the pole vault and 201 in the high jump at the
Flemish championships. Hans Van Alphen, also in preparation for Gotzis next
week, got 15.21 in
the shot put and 740 in
the long jump.

MOSCOW (RUS, May 22): Dmitriy Kolosov achieved 16.89
(new PB) in triple jump during Moscow Students Championships.

CORNELLA (ESP, May 21): In the road mile Manuel Olmedo
clocked 4:25 over Alvaro Rodriguez 4:26 in Ciutat de Cornella. Lidia Rodriguez
was the best in women category 5:02 ahead of Jacqueline Martin 5:05.

KOSICE (SVK, May 22): European indoor bronze winner
Dana Veldakova opened the season with good 14.25. Jana Veldakova leaped to 647 in long jump after
clocking 11.99 at 100 m
into a headwind. In shot put Ivana Kristoficova achieved 15.04 what is world
record for hearing impaired athletes.

GAVARDO (ITA, May 22): Swiss long jump record holder Irene Pusterla
leaped to good 664 (0.0) at a meeting in Italy.

VIENNA (AUT, May 22): Ana Dulce Felix won the women 5 km road race in new course
record 15:27.4. Second her team-mate Jessica Augusto (15:52.4) ahead of German
Sabrina Mockenhaupt (15:59.3). In total 25 000 participants were registered.

KASSEL (GER, May 22): Kenyan wins at Kassel Marathon. Julius Mariuki with 2:13:00 and Jacqueline
Nytepi 2:40:01.

RIGA (LAT, May 22): Kenyan Julius Kuto won the Riga
Marathon with 2:15:48. Best woman was Ethiopian Desta Girma 2:37:15.

COPENHAGEN (DEN, May 22): Marten Bostrom of Finland won
the Copenhagen Marathon clocking 2:21:45. Anne-Sofie Pade Hanson was the best
woman in 2:45:30 ahead of former world record holder Tegla Loroupe of Kenya 2:46:32.

fast sprints to add that Steve Mullings also clocked windy 9.91 (+2.7) in
heats, the wind speed in Gatlin´s 200
m (20.20) was +1.9. Debbie Ferguson of Bahamas showed
top shape with 11.09 (+1.4) and 22.50 (+2.7) wins and even clocked legal 11.17
(+1.7) in heats. Aileen Bailey was second with 11.19 and 22.96. Joel Brown
