The UAE Healthy Kidney 10k has had five years of great, competitive racing, with
Craig Mottram, Dathan Ritzenhein in past years. The sixth annual featured a tough field,
including Gebre Gebremariam. Gebremariam, 2009 World Cross Country champ, ran the fastest 10k ever in Central Park, on Saturday, May 15, 2010. 27:42 for 10k! Pace was fast, with the pack at 4:26 for mile 1, hitting two miles in 9:00 (4;24), and three miles hit in 13:26, hitting 5k in 13:47. Kamais, Kogo and Gebremariam hit four miles in 18:06, and five miles in 4:25 (22:31). Kamais and Gebremariam ran the last mile in 4:26, hitting six miles in 26:57. Gebre Gebremariam took the lead with two hundred meters to go, putting seven seconds on Kamais in the last 200 meters, hitting the finish in a CR of 27:42!
