This may be one of the funniest interviews on record. British Media, as a collective group, and the media accepted at World Championships, see to think that drug questions are the only thing that make them an honest journalist.
It seems that Ms. Richardson was not a happy camper during much of the inteview. However, a second read seems to show a forth right person who really does not appreciate being toyed with in any manner.
I recall this situation with Mo Farah in 2015, the Doha presser with any former Nike Oregon athlete in 2019, and now, of course, Sha’ Carrie Richardson as she has Dennis Mitchell as a coach and Justin Gatlin as a training partner.

Sha’ Carrie Richardson presser highlights
Sha’ Carrie Richardson is running the 100m in Gateshead at the Diamond League on Sunday evening. The British athletics writers had an opportunity to question her ahead of the Gateshead race. See previous post. Her one-liners and methods of dealing which questions she “did not appreciate” seemed worth recording too!
Are you focusing on the 200 as well as the 100 for Tokyo?
Yes
Can I ask you about your upbringing; I read that your mother abandoned you?
I don’t want to talk about that.
You recognize the need not just to be clean but to be seen to be clean?
Yes absolutely.
Did Christian Coleman’s ban affect other athletes and make them tighten up their behavior?
You are always supposed to be on guard about your whereabouts but that wasn’t a situation that made me think I needed to be on my toes. Every situation is different and I would say again that people only know what they read.
Is there a relaxed attitude in American track and field about testing?
No. We do what we need to do and we understand what we need to do.
Are you prepared for running on a cold, wet night in Gateshead?
America is not always hot. I have run in meets when it was cold and raining. I’m ready to run rain, sleet or snow.
As a Nike athlete with Nike shoes do you think you have any advantage over other athletes?
I will wear any pair of shoes and do what I need to do – any pair of Nike shoes that is!
What does your dragon tattoo mean?
The dragon stands for fortune, authority and good luck.
What you think about Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce running as a mom
This interview is about Sha’Carrie.
Have you missed any drug tests?
That’s not information for you guys to know.
The last 30 m of few races are very impressive do you work on that?
I work on everything. I work on all of my race.
Do you agree that the end of your races is your strength more than your start?
Is that not obvious?
Yes but I would like you to articulate it?
It’s very obvious what are my strengths are and what are my weaknesses. I think everyone can see what my strengths are and what my weaknesses are so there’s no need for me to elaborate on it.
With that strength towards the end of the 100, what time do you think you could run for 200?
I think I can run as fast as I can run! I’m prepared to run what I need to run on the day of the race, whatever time comes along with my execution
In training to focus more on the 100 than the 200?
I focus on everything.
