There are enormous expectations on Laura Muir in the United Kingdom. And Laura knows it, and so does British Athletics. Andy Young, her coach, gets it as well. In London last summer, Laura Muir took 4th in the 1,500m and sixth in the 5000 meters. It was an impressive performance, but no medals.

Laura had a long journey to even get to Birmingham, taking a taxi for six hours from snow covered Scotland. Her taxi bill, $2,250, which was covered by British Athletics.
Again, a tremendous race, where Genzebe Dibaba used a 1000 meter final push of 2:37 to win in 8:45! Hellen Obiri fell back, but Sifan Hassan charged and Laura Muir followed, separating the medalists from the madding crowd.
