BOSTON (USA, Feb 26): At Boston University Last Chance Meet Edward Cheserek of the University of Oregon flew cross-country and made the long trip worth it, setting an NCAA record, Kenyan indoor record, and world lead in the mile with a 3:52.01 time. Cheserek won a very fast race that saw each of the top six men set PB’s, including Kyle Merber finishing second in a career best 3:52.22. In the 5000m, Mo Ahmed ran a Canadian national record 13:04.60 to lead six men under 13:13, thanks in part to great pacemaking from Nike Bowerman Track Club teammates Dan Huling and Evan Jager. Eric Jenkins (13:05.85), Ben True (13:06.74), and Ryan Hill (13:07.61) all finished behind Ahmed in a hotly contested race, and all recorded 2017 IAAF World Championships qualifying marks (entry standard is 13:22.60). For the women, Molly Huddle and training partner Emily Sisson went one-two in the 5000m, timing 15:01.64 to 15:02.10. Sisson’s time was a large PB, and they too got their world champs qualifiers (15:22.00 is the standard). Bolade Ajomale from Canada won the 60 m in 6.64 and Christopher Belcher clocked fast 20.59 PB in the 200 m. In women 400 m national record for Puerto-Rico as Grace Claxton achieved 52.64. From RRW.
