Farah confirms 10k in Ostrava
OSTRAVA (CZE): Reigning world and Olympic 5000m and 10,000m champion Mo Farah will race over 10,000m in the Ostrava Golden Spike on 28 June, informs organisers. At a press conference which was supported by Czech Tennis FedCup team playing this weekend against Spain in Ostrava it was confirmed that the 10 000 m will be staged at the IAAF World Challenge meet for first time since 2004 when Kenenisa Bekele achieved a World record 26:20.31, still 2nd best ever. Farah will compete for second time in his career at the meet after running here 5000 m back in 2008. “I’m pleased to announce my participation in the Emil Zatopek Memorial 10,000m at the Golden Spike meeting in Ostrava on June 28. It will be my first time to compete in a track 10,000m race in Europe outside a major Championship. I know other athletes ran fast in Ostrava in the past and I hope the weather conditions will be conducive to a good performance. My major focus for 2017 is the IAAF World T&F Championships in London and this will be a good opportunity to run fast before then,” said Farah in a statement.
